Mental health volunteer named to Red Cross post

The American Red Cross, Jersey Coast Chapter, Tinton Falls, has announced mental health volunteer MaryLee Sanders, Holmdel, has accepted the volunteer leadership position of disaster mental health officer at the local chapter. She will be responsible for the disaster mental health function that is a standard integral part of Red Cross disaster response.

Sanders is trained in critical incidence management and has volunteered for the Red Cross local and nationally. She also volunteered for the governor’s office doing mental health work at the Family Assistance Center, Liberty State Park, following 9/11. She has a private practice, Sanders and Associates/The Counseling Place, in both Red Bank and Holmdel.

CPC director named ‘Social Worker of Year’

Dr. Millicent Kellner, director of project development at High Point School, Morganville, has been named as the 2003 School Social Worker of the Year by the New Jersey Association of School Social Workers.

The announcement was made by CPC Behavioral Healthcare, Red Bank, which operates High Point. Kellner is the first social worker from a private special education school to receive the distinction.

Her anger management program, "In Control," was also among 10 programs recently honored through the "Innovations in Special Education" program sponsored by the New Jersey School Boards Association and the Association of Schools and Agencies for the Handicapped. "Innovations" recognizes creative initiatives for the learning disabled.

A resident of East Windsor, Kellner has been at High Point 17 years.
