to Eatontown Alliance

Eatontown Mayor Gerald Tarantolo recently appointed First Atlantic Community Development Officer Carol Cohen to the Eatontown Municipal Drug and Alcohol Alliance. Cohen will work with the community-based organization to fight and prevent drug use among children.

"I’ve had strong ties with the Eatontown community for many years and am pleased to have this opportunity to contribute to the health and welfare of local children," said Cohen.

The alliance was founded nearly 20 years ago by a coalition of community residents, school officials, and health and police department representatives with a goal of reducing drug and alcohol abuse among minors by increasing drug prevention and education among at-risk children.

Prior to joining First Atlantic, Cohen was executive director of the Eatontown Area Chamber of Commerce for eight years. She started with First Atlantic as a business development officer. Cohen and her husband are residents of Long Branch and are the parents of three grown sons.

First Atlantic has service centers in Eatontown, West Long Branch and Fort Monmouth, and in Horsham, Pa.

Monmouth Medical earns CT accreditation

Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, recently received accreditation from the American College of Radiology in recognition of the safety and appropriateness of its computed tomography (CT) scan use. Monmouth Medical Center is the first hospital in the state to gain such accreditation, according to a press release from the medical center.

The new CT accreditation program evaluates facilities in categories such as qualifications of the radiologists, technologists and physicians, equipment performance, effectiveness of quality control programs, and quality of clinical images and radiation doses.

To earn the three-year status, Monmouth completed a two-part nine-month accreditation process that included a submission of all personnel qualifications, board certifications, and continuing education requirements.
