Business Shore Regional board member receives award

Joan Brearley, a member of the Shore Regional High School Board of Education, West Long Branch, has been received the Master Board Member Award through the New Jersey School Boards Association’s Board Member Academy training program.

She is one of only 19 New Jersey Board members to earn the designation this year, and only one of 138 that have earned the award since its inception in 1992. The award is bestowed after individuals complete an advanced course of study designed to enhance knowledge and competence in key areas of school board responsibilities, such as strategic planning, negotiations and leadership.

Brearley previously attained the Academy’s designation of certified board member, which requires earning 20 credits of training time. She earned an additional 20 credits for the Master Board Member Award.
