Michael A. Matta, Lakewood recreation director, presented awards to the winners of the township’s annual Nok-Hockey Tournament held on seven playgrounds throughout the township. More than 900 youngsters participated in the competition. Overall age group champions are:

Robert Ordenana, Clifton Avenue Playground, for ages 6-8; Isaac Ruvalcaba, Pine Park Playground, 9-11; Alex Sanders, Clifton Avenue Playground, 12-15.

Individual first-place winners from playground competitions are: Al-Tarig Montgomery, 8, Quadirah Vaughn, 11, and Matthew Vaughn, 13, all from Rev. Clayton Playground; Kevin Ortiz, 8, Erik Klarmann, 9, and Robert Lemon, 12, all from D’Zio Park Playground; Miguel Peralta, 8, Jordan Brown, 9, and Manuel Solorzano, 12, all of Spruce Street Playground; Tyrone Shorter, 8, Albert Cruz, 9, and Alex Sanders, 12, of Clifton Avenue Playground; Tony Pierce, 11, and Kevin McCutchen, 13, of School No. 5 Playground; Matthew Miller, 7, Isaac Ruvalcaba, 9, and Jasmine Turner, 12, of Pine Park Playground; and Evan Barreto, 7, Max Albarran, 8, and Kaitlyn Riddle, 12, of Hearthstone Playground.

Champion T-shirts were presented to all playground winners, and the overall age group champions received plaques.

Michael A. Matta, Lakewood recreation director, presented awards to the winners of the township’s annual checkers tournament, The tournament was held on seven playgrounds throughout the township, with more than 900 youngsters participating in the competition.

The overall age group champions are: Ryan Davis, D’Zio Park Playground, for ages 6-8; Jesse Hammerstone, Pine Park Playground, 9-11; Kaitlyn Riddle, Hearth-stone Playground, 12-15.

The first-place winners in each playground are: Asmar Martin, 7, Utisha Jenkins, 9, and Twella Jenkins, 3, all from Rev. Clayton Playground; Ryan Davis, 8, Nathanuel Paone, 11, and Jan Vogler, 12, all from D’Zio Park Playground; Cecilia Melgarejo, 8, Vanessa Samuels, 11, and Maria Giacini, 14, all of Spruce Street Playground; Stephanie Cruzman, 11, and Valeria Cruzman, 12, of Clifton Avenue Playground; Demetrius Baynard, 11, and Kevin McCutchen, 13, of School No. 5 Playground; Zachery Smith, 6, Jesse Hammerstone, 11, and Michelle Miller, 12, of Pine Park Playground; and Kevin Riddle, 11, and Kaitlyn Riddle, 12, of Hearthstone Playground.

Ladies Auxiliary Craft

Show slated for Oct. 11

The Ladies Auxiliary to Laurelton Fire Company No. 1, Brick, will be hosting their eighth annual craft show Oct. 11 at the firehouse on Route 88 west and Olden Street in Brick, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Spaces are available ($20) for those who want to display their handcrafted items.
