to hold Aug. 19 meeting

The Lawrence Brook Watershed Partnership Inc. will hold a meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 19 in the Borough Council chambers at Milltown Borough Hall, 39 Washington Ave.

Mark Hommer, a water resource specialist, will offer a presentation titled "Stormwater Management Technology: Secrets of Stormwater Treatment."

The public is welcome. Refreshments will be served.

The Lawrence Brook Watershed Partnership has environmental interests in the area including East Brunswick, Milltown, South Brunswick, North Brunswick and New Brunswick.

Boating skills courses

coming to Sayreville

U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 2-1 will offer two public education boating courses at the Flotilla Headquarters Building, 167 Main Street Sayreville (Borough Hall annex).

A 12-lesson advanced coastal navigation course is scheduled for 7:30-9:30 p.m. on Mondays, Sept. 8-Dec. 8. Classes will cover navigation techniques, charts and piloting. Cost is $75, including textbooks.

A 12-lesson boating skills and seamanship course is set for 7:30-9:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, Sept. 10-Dec. 10. The sessions will cover boating safety. Upon satisfactory completion of the end-of-course test, students will receive a New Jersey State Boating Safety Certificate. Cost is $60, including textbooks.

Crafters are sought for

St. Thomas HSA show

Crafters are sought for the St. Thomas the Apostle HSA Fall Craft Show and Bake Sale, set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 11 in the school auditorium, Route 18 south, Old Bridge.

Cancer support group

to meet at Raritan Bay

The Jacqueline M. and Robert N. Wilentz Cancer Center at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge and Perth Amboy, will offer a support group meeting for individuals with cancer from 6-7 p.m. on Aug. 25 at the hospital’s Old Bridge division, off Ferry Road, between routes 9 and 18.

The meeting will provide a supportive environment where concerns and anxieties can be explored and coping skills enhanced. Medical and educational topics also will be addressed. Family members are welcome. Admission is free, but advance registration is required.
