Kindermusik
   Today through Thursday, Aug. 28 — The Bordentown Conservatory at 144 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown, is offering free Kindermusik demonstration classes on Aug. 14, 18, 21, 25, and 28. Ages 0 to 1 at 9 a.m.; ages 1½ to 3 at 10 a.m.; and ages 3 to 5 at 11 a.m. Call Julie at 284-2225 to reserve a spot. Class sizes are small and fill up fast.
Blood drive
   Friday, Aug. 15 —The American Red Cross is holding an open blood drive at the Wawa Springfield Training Center, 2835-A Route 206 South, Springfield Regional Office in Columbus from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Trash or Treasure
   Friday, Aug. 15 and Saturday, Aug. 16 —The Trinity United Methodist Church, 339 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown, will hold its monthly trash or treasure sale on the second floor of the education building from 9 a.m. until noon.
Peach festivals
   Friday, Aug. 15 — The Peach Festival will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on the lawn of the Friends Meeting House, 302 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown City; $5 per person. For more information call Doris at 298-9163.

   Saturday, Aug. 16 — Jacksonville Presbyterian Church is holding their annual Peach Festival at Jacksonville Community Center, Jacksonville/Jobstown Road, Jacksonville, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. They will be serving peach shortcake with ice cream as well as hot dog and port barbecue sandwiches. Baked goods, jams and relishes to be sold; white elephant table slated.
Antiques and Desserts
   Thursday, Aug. 21—A Downtown Bordentown Association (DBA) fundraiser called "Antiques and Desserts" is set for 7 p.m. at Carslake Center, 207 Crosswicks St., Bordentown. Bring a treasured heirloom or thing of curiosity to be appraised by Alfred Finocchiaro from Alfred’s Auctions. Desserts and refreshments are included with your ticket. Tickets are $10 each and are available at Shoppe 202 (609) 298-1424. Limit one item per person.
Annual Fun Day
   Saturday, Aug. 23 — Springfield Township Annual Fun Day will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. at Juliustown Park. Pony rides, free hot dogs and hamburgers, the police D.A.R.E. car, fire trucks and free child identification.
Occasion in the Park
   Sunday, Aug. 24 — 7th annual "Occasion in the Park" is being held from 1 to 5:30 p.m. at Roebling Park on Riverside Ave., Roebling. Featuring live doo-wop music by "New Harmony," strolling magician, balloon artist, costumed characters, food, bacon bread, stuffed cabbage, home baked goods sale, pony rides, games, moon bounce, art and crafts display and more. School meeting
   Monday, Aug. 25 — The Northern Burlington Board of Education will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the media center.
Montessori orientation
   Friday, Aug. 29 — Hamilton Montessori School will be holding a parent orientation night at their temporary facilities at 6 p.m. They would like the community of Bordentown to be aware of their new facilities, as they will be the first Montessori school in Hamilton. PTA bingo
   St. Mary School PTA holds bingo at 6 p.m. each Wednesday in the school hall. Games begin at 7:30 p.m. Jackpot bingo ($250) and 50/50s. Weekly sandwich specials and monthly dinner specials available. For information call Joanne at 298-4232.
Garden Club
   The Roebling Garden Club is conducting a membership drive for new members to work on the beautification of Roebling in time for the 100th Anniversary celebration in 2005. Dues are $5 and meetings are held every second Monday at 7 p.m. at the Roebling Library. Membership forms available at Anna’s Blooms, M & S Deli and Time Out Beauty Salon.
Library survey
   The Florence Township Public Library is surveying the township this summer to get a feel for how well it serves the public and where improvements could be made. In order to reach the majority of townspeople, the Florence Township Tax Office is including this one-page survey with the July tax bill. Take time to fill out this survey and return it to the library at 1350 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling, N.J. 08554 by Friday, Aug. 15.
Orientation program
   Wednesday, Sept. 3 — Bordentown Regional High School will conduct a freshmen/sophomore orientation program at 7:35 a.m. in the school auditorium and gymnasium. A program of welcome will be presented by upperclassmen student leaders, followed by the distribution of schedules.
   Also, topics in the "Parent/Student Handbook" will be presented by administrative staff. Students will also meet with their class advisors and guidance counselors. All freshmen and seniors will then follow an abbreviated class schedule with dismissal for 11:50 a.m. All high school students will begin the school year at 7:35 a.m., on Thursday, Sept. 4 with full-day attendance.
   As part of the high school’s restructured time schedule, students no longer are divided into homerooms. Procedures that normally occur in homerooms will be done during first period classes.
Republican Club
   Thursday, Sept. 4 — Springfield Township Republican Club will meet at 8 p.m. at the Garden State Diner.
First day of school
   Thursday, Sept. 4 — The MacFarland Junior School’s first day will be a full session. School will begin at 8 a.m. Students are to enter the building at 8 a.m. and go directly to their study hall class.
   As a part of MacFarland Junior School’s restructured time schedule (block scheduling) students are no longer divided into homerooms. Procedures that normally occur in homerooms will be done in study hall class.
   Lunch will be served on Thursday. The cost of a platter is $2 (includes milk). Milk is also sold separately for $.35 and ice cream is $.55-$1. Dismissal will be 2:55 p.m. If you have any questions prior to the first day of school, call 298-0674, ext. 2100.
Casino trip
   Sunday, Sept. 7 — The Knights of Columbus 570 are sponsoring a bus trip to the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City. Bus will leave St. Mary’s parking lot at 4:30 p.m. for a four-hour stay at the casino. Cost is $15 per person plus casino costs to be announced. For reservations call Bob at 298-5530.
Old Country Festival
   Sunday, Sept. 7 — St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Parish will be holding their annual "Old Country Festival" from noon to 6 p.m. at the St. Nicholas picnic grove on Norman Avenue, Roebling. This will be a Mid-European Festival, featuring "John Stanky and the Coalminers" for your listening pleasure. All the favorite European foods including homemade cakes and pastries will be sold. Flea market
   Saturday, Sept. 13 — The Ladies Auxiliary of The Chesterfield Hose Company will hold their Annual Flea Market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Chesterfield Firehouse grounds (Route 528), inside if it rains. There will be books, white elephant items, bake sale, food and drinks. Vendors and crafters welcome. $8 per space. Bring your own table. For more information, call 298-7363.
Library programs
   The Burlington County Library Bordentown Branch Youth Services Department will be offering a variety of programs in September. Registration begins two weeks prior to the date of the program.
   Tuesday, Sept. 9 — Toddler time apple picking time will be held at 10:30 a.m. for children from 18 to 36 months. We’ll read stories, sing songs and make a special apple craft.

   Tuesday, Sept. 23 — It’s "Mom’s Night Out." Come for a kid-less night of crafting and camaraderie at 7 p.m.

   Wednesday, Sept. 24 — It’s back. The chess club will meet at Clare Estates at 3:45 p.m. Bring your board and playing pieces to Clare Estates. Open to all ages; participants must have a basic working knowledge of the game.

   Tuesday, Sept. 30 — Fall story and craft will be held at 7 p.m. for kids 4 to 7. Join us for stories and a craft all about the season.
