A USA Hockey-sanctioned league will hold registration at the Jackson Justice Complex on Aug. 24 from 10 a.m. to noon. Teams are currently forming for the fall league, which will begin in September and run through November. Registration fee is $100 for the 10-week session. The league will practice at the Jackson Justice Complex hockey rink.
All players are required to register with USA Hockey to play on the Jackson Roller Hockey League. The fee for registration is $25 and is a one-time fee per calendar year. There is also a $25 fee to keep a hockey jersey. Please bring proof of residency and copy of birth certificate, as well as skates. For more information, call (732) 364-2608. Holbrook Little League in Jackson will be holding registration for fall ball on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the Holbrook Little League field refreshment stand. Children ages 6-7 (Farm League), 8-9 (Minor League), 9-11 (Major League) and 12-14 (Junior League) are eligible. Fees are $75 for league players, and $50 for clinic players. A $50 work bond check is required. All new players are required to provide a copy of birth certificate at registration. League start date is approximately Aug. 23. Games will be played at Holbrook Little League and the Justice Complex.
The following are the results of the Nick "the Quick" Werkman All-American Action Clinic, held on July 25 at the McAuliffe School in Jackson. Cory Weissman won the hotshot contest with 71 points, followed by Steve Stec and Terry Hicks (58 points each), Carlos Ferrera (48), Brian Peterson (48) and Vincent Gonzalez (26). Weissman also won the foul-shooting contest, going 10-for-10, followed by Stec (9-10), Ferrera (8-10), Gonzalez (7-10) and Peterson (6-10). Weissman was the clinic MVP.
