Registration for the Winter Sports Program at St. Mary’s of Ostrabrama, South River, will be held Aug. 26 and 27 from 7-9 p.m., and Sept. 2 and 3 from 7-9 p.m. at the CYO. Programs are offered in boys’ and girls’ competitive basketball (grades 3-8), cheering (grades 1-8) and instructional basketball (grades K-4). For more information, call (732) 390-8204.

The Central Jersey Lightning 12U and 14U traveling softball teams are currently looking for girls for their 2003 fall and 2004 spring seasons. The tryouts schedule is as follows: Aug. 19 (6 p.m.), Aug. 21 (6 p.m.), and Aug. 23 (9 a.m.). All tryouts will be held at the Middlesex Vocational High School (East Brunswick campus). The school is located at the corner of Summerhill Road and Rues Lane, next to the Brunswick Square Mall. The softball fields are located behind the school.

The Spotswood Thunder, an U13 boys’ travel soccer team, is seeking two players for the upcoming season. Interested players should contact coach Rich O’Brien at (732) 251-8533 in the evenings. Players’ should be born after Aug. 1, 1990, and on or before July 31, 1991.

The following are the results of the Tamarack Women’s Nine-Hole Golf Association’s Aug. 7 outing. The game played was five blind holes, half handicap.

Gail DiMaio won the A Flight with a 20, followed by Mary Ann Gelsinson (22), Marge Widder (22) and Annabelle Donnamaria (23).

Joan Semen won the B Flight with a 23.5, followed by Dot Terringer (23.5), Gerry Hurley (26), and Jean Ertle (26.5).

Sally Deyette won the C Flight with a 20.5, followed by Barbara Thomsson (20.5), Jeanette Squires (22.5) and Madelyn DiMaria (25.5).

Ellie de la Bandera had the fewest putts with 13.
