Watershed panel to host walking tour and picnic

The Lawrence Brook Watershed Partnership will sponsor a walking tour/ramble and picnic in the watershed area from 2-6 p.m. on Aug. 16 beginning at Davidson’s Mill Pond Park, at the southernmost end of Riva Avenue, South Brunswick. Finish time is approximate. Rain date is Aug. 17.

Interested individuals will meet in the parking area located on the left side immediately after entering Davidson’s Mill Pond Park. Participants should travel south on Riva Avenue and turn left into the park at the county park sign, just before the road turns to the right and crosses the Lawrence Brook just below the pond dam.

Organizers hope to explore several areas next to the Lawrence Brook, in the woods and around several ponds.

The group will walk for about two hours, stop for refreshments, then continue to walk, finishing at approximately 6 p.m. Participants, who should wear good walking shoes or boots, a hat and gloves in case they encounter brambles, should bring something to eat and drink. The refreshments may be carried or left in the hiker’s vehicle for use at the intermediate stop. Cameras and binoculars are recommended.

The Lawrence Brook Watershed Partnership has environmental interests in the area including East Brunswick, Milltown, South Brunswick, North Brunswick and New Brunswick.
