Young Judaea slates new meeting schedule

The East Brunswick chapter of Young Judaea, a youth movement sponsored by Hadassah and designed to develop a strong sense of Jewish identity and connection to Israel through games, crafts and regional events, will meet from 7-8 p.m. on alternating Monday and Tuesday evenings beginning Sept. 8. Monday meetings will be held every other week at Congregation Anshe Emeth, Main Street, South River. The group will meet on alternate Tuesdays at the East Brunswick Jewish Center, 511 Ryders Lane, East Brunswick.

Young Judaea is not affiliated with any particular branch of Judaism and is open to all Jewish children ages 8-12. Activities continue throughout the year, with club meetings during the school year and a sleep-away summer camp, Sprout Lake, near Poughkeepsie, N.Y., in the summer.

The group’s opening event of the year is set for 6-7:30 p.m. on Aug. 27 at the Kids Club at New York Sports Club, Cornwall Court, East Brunswick. Highlights will include gymnastics, kickboxing lessons and various relay races with prizes. Cost is $18. New members are welcome.

Membership dues are $30 per year. Cost includes a T-shirt and a quarterly children’s magazine.
