Cooking demonstration to benefit orchestra

Two maestros will duke it out — over a mixing bowl with a whisk and a baton.

The Garden State Philharmonic’s "A Little Night Cooking" will feature chef Jeffrey Schneekloth, of Jeffrey’s Restaurant in Toms River, and the Philharmonic’s Maestro Anthony LaGruth in a cooking demonstration and a battle of wits Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. at the Ocean County College Fine Arts Center, Toms River.

The menu will include an appetizer of Jersey tomatoes with fresh mozzarella and basil in a balsamic vinaigrette dressing, a main course of meso crusted salmon over a bed of basmati rice and bok choi with a black bean sauce, and for dessert, a key lime tart topped with fresh fruit.

Admission is $25 per person, and reservations are required. The event will also feature a raffle for a dinner and concert package, and door prizes. Proceeds will benefit the Garden State Philharmonic ensembles.

For tickets for further details, call (732) 451-0064; e-mail gspmusic@earthlink.net; or visit the philharmonic office at 150 Brick Blvd. in Brick.
