Registration for the St. Mary’s of Ostrabrama winter sports season will be held Aug. 26-27 from 7-9 p.m., and Sept. 2-3 from 7-9 p.m. Programs will be offered in competitive basketball (boys and girls grades 3-8), cheering (grades 1-8) and instructional basketball (grades K-4). The following are the results of the Tamarack Women’s Nine-Hole Golf Association’s Aug. 14 outing. The game played was Kickers — choose own handicap to come as close to par as possible. Jean Hoskins won the A Flight with a 35, followed by Marge Quirk (38 — match of cards), Dot Fitzgerald (38) and Annabelle Donnamaria (38). Joan Semen won the B Flight with a 36, followed by Dot Peters (39), Dot Terringer (41) and Gerry Hurley (41). Joyce Nicolaison won the C Flight with a 36, followed by Jeanette Squires (38), Madelyne DiMaria (38) and Mary Thompson (40). Thompson had fewest putts with 15.

Dot Terringer won the Association’s President’s Cup, defeating Marge Widder in the match-play final. Dot Peters toped Ronnie Bohn for the Vice President’s Cup title.

The West Windsor Wildcats will hold tryouts for the 16U and 18U girls fastpitch softball teams on Sunday at 2 p.m., and Thursday at 6 p.m. Teams will compete at college showcase tournaments, regional qualifiers and national tournaments. The Sayreville Stingrays girls’ fastpitch softball organization will be holding tryouts for the 2004 season on Aug. 30, Sept. 20 and Sept. 27. The Stingrays are a Class A travel program entering their sixth year. They currently have several openings for the 12U team (contact manager Don Deleto at (732) 613-5172), the 14U Blue team (contact Jim Makowski at (732) 651-0740), and two openings for utility players for the 14U White team (contact manager Rich Olender at (732) 525-2599).

The Central Jersey Baseball League is currently forming its fall league for 2003. This is a team travel league, with no AAU regional teams. Divisions are for 12U (60/90), 13U, 14/15U and 15/16U or 16U. One game a week on Saturdays, with optional weeknight games. Season runs from late August until late October.
