MARY A. SUMMER, 77, of Millstone Township, died Aug. 15 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in the Perrineville section of Millstone, she was a lifelong resident. Mrs. Summer was a cafeteria aide in the Millstone Township elementary schools for several years, retiring 14 years ago. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Millstone, where she was a past deacon. She was a booster member of the Millstone Township Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and a Girl Scout leader of Troop 116, Millstone. She was predeceased by three brothers, Frank L. Palmer, in 1994, and Charles Palmer and Norman H. Palmer, both in 1996. Mrs. Summer is survived by her husband, Melvin L. Summer Sr.; three sons, Melvin L. Summer Jr. of Canyon Lake, Calif., Kevin C. Summer of the New Egypt section of Plumsted, and Donald J. Summer and his fiancée, Cathy Calcaterra, of Lawrenceville; two brothers, William F. Palmer of Kissimmee, Fla., and Richard J. Palmer of Millstone; three sisters, Emma F. Palmer and Madelyn P. Gilbert, both of Millstone, and Elizabeth C. McCabe of Jackson; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Funeral services were held at United Presbyterian Church of Millstone, with the Rev. Gregory Pike officiating, followed by interment at the church cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the United Presbyterian Church of Millstone Building Fund, 211 Millstone Road, Perrineville 08535.

RUTH M. BORDFELD, 80, of Brick, died July 29 at Leisure Park in Lakewood. She was born in Baltimore, Md., and had lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Tinton Falls before moving to Brick in 1990. She was a parishioner and member of the Rosary Society of St. Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church in Brick. She contributed to the Greenbrier Times, and was a volunteer at the Greenbrier Library in Brick. She was a receptionist for Liberty Mutual Insurance in Tinton Falls for 10 years, and retired in 1989. Prior to that, she was a switchboard operator for 20 years in several hospitals in Brooklyn. Mrs. Bordfeld was predeceased by her husband, Hubert, in 1994. She is survived by six sons, Glenn R. Bordfeld, of Wadsworth, Ill.; Gregory R. Bordfeld, of Evansville, Ind.; William J. Bordfeld, of St. Louis, Mo.; Christopher H. Bordfeld and Kenneth H. Bordfeld, both of Howell; and Vincent J. Bordfeld, of Freehold; a brother, Harry Eckard, of Florida; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass was held at St. Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church, Brick. Interment was in St. Anne’s Cemetery, Wall. Funeral arrangements were handled by C.H.T. Clayton and Son Funeral Home, Adelphia section of Howell. ALFRED D. CIAMPOLI, 79, of Red Bank, died Aug. 11 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Jersey City, he resided in Red Bank for several years. He was a bakery driver at Baldanza’s Bakery, Long Branch, for more than 50 years. He was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. He was a member of Local No. 194, Union. He was predeceased by a daughter, Rose Ciampoli, and two brothers, John and Anthony Ciampoli. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruby E. Bradley Ciampoli of Red Bank; two sons, Alfred D. Ciampoli and Joseph M. Ciampoli, both Red Bank; two daughters, Barbara Lopez of Highlands, and Peggy Schultz of Jackson; two brothers, Gerald Ciampoli of Red Bank, and Harold Ciampoli of Jersey City; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. JOSEPH KLIMASZ, 87, of Howell, died Aug. 12 at his home in Howell. Mr. Klimasz was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived in Cliffwood Beach and Newark before moving to Howell. He worked as a machinist for American Smelting Co. in Perth Amboy for 20 years until his retirement in 1975. He was a communicant of St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church in Laurence Harbor. He was predeceased by his father, Julius Klimasz; his mother, Mary Leszczeski; his wife Frances Klimasz in 1970; and two sons, Dennis and John Klimasz. He is survived by a daughter, Bator Danuta of Poland, two sisters, Helen and Sophie Klimasz, both of Poland; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass was offered at St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Laurence Harbor. Entombment was in St. Joseph’s Mausoleum in Keyport.
