Golf tournament to aid Rainbow Foundation

Mulligan’s Bar & Grill, 203 Squankum Road, Farmingdale, held its annual charity golf tournament Sept. 9 at Knob Hill golf course in Manalapan.

This year the event benefited the Rainbow Foundation, an organization that provides "financial first aid" to hundreds of New Jersey children and their families.

The children come to the foundation through a network of more than 200 referring agencies such as the American Cancer Society, Ronald McDonald House and Special Child Services.

Founded in 1984 by Tom and Peggy Karaban of Middletown, the Rainbow Foundation has provided on-the-spot help to more than 10,000 youngsters, according to a press release.

The foundation has paid hospital and medical bills, arranged transportation for surgeries and treatments, donated wheelchairs and prosthetic devices, and made cash grants to families in dire need, among other things.
