Thanks and regret over law enforcement

My husband and I relocated to Brick over four years ago. We are pleased to be part of such a wonderful community.

I would like to bring two points to the attention of fellow residents.

On Labor Day weekend, my son-in-law, visiting from Florida, became disabled in the middle of the Barnegat Bay on our Wave Runner. It was not long before the new Brick Boat Patrol showed up at our lagoon, with my son-in-law on board. They brought him and our Wave Runner home safe, with no charge.

Both officers could not have been more polite and helpful. Thank you from the Handlin family.

On a second note, I would like to comment on a front page article in the Sept. 10 Bulletin titled "This Bust’s For You: Underage Arrests Up."

Unfortunately, the featured criminal was named. He is 19 years of age and was buying beer. He could have been stationed in our war zones as we all know that, at the age of 19, one can vote and fight for our country.

Sorry, Mr. Chandler, for all your embarrassment. I know the law is the law; however, I can’t help feeling that if you are old enough to fight for our country, you are old enough to enjoy a beer.
