build memorial garden

A children’s memorial garden, supported by the New Egypt Elks Handicapped Children’s Committee and board of trustees, will soon be under construction on the grounds of the Elks lodge, 105 Lakewood Road, New Egypt.

Organizers are in need of volunteer expertise in the areas of landscape design, excavating, irrigation, plumbing, electrical and masonry.

Comedy night planned

at New Egypt Elks lodge

The New Egypt Elks Handicapped Children’s Committee is hosting a Comedy Night Sept. 20 at the lodge, 105 Lakewood Road. The fee of $25 includes a hot and cold dinner buffet, show, DJ music and dancing. Attendees are asked to bring canned goods for the local food pantry. Sidewalk Chalk Art

contest in Howell Oct. 4

The Howell Community Alliance, along with the Howell Chamber of Commerce and the Ramtown School PTO, will present its fifth annual Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest Oct. 4 at Aldrich Plaza, Route 9, Howell. In the event of rain, it will take place on Oct. 5.

This free event, which will include chalk, refreshments, prizes and entertainment, will begin at noon. All residents of Howell and surrounding communities are invited to participate. All participants will receive a ribbon. Artists will be able to compete for prizes in six age groups and there will also be a special category for pastel chalk. Preregistration is not required.
