31st annual Toms River

Canoe & Kayak Race

The 31st annual Toms River Canoe and Kayak Race will take place Oct. 5.

The down river event offers seven tandem and two solo canoe categories, plus four different kayak categories. There are also four open water events from 4-6 miles in length starting at 9:30 and 11 a.m. The first boaters to finish in each cat­egory will receive paddle plaque awards. Entry fees are $12 for solo and $22 for tandem. Advance registration closes Sept. 24. The late registration fee is an addi­tional $10. Participants should meet at the old Toms River bus terminal, Irons Street, Toms River. There will be free transportation for people and boats to the starting point. Details: (609) 971-3085.
