Boat show docks in Edison

Whether you are looking for a runabout to introduce the kids to crabbing or a sport-fishing cruiser to take on tuna in the Hudson Canyon, the 16th annual Fall New Jersey Boat Show, which runs Oct. 3-5 at the New Jersey Convention Center, off Route 287, Edison, will offer a selection of craft that meet your lifestyle needs and your budget.

"With more than 300 boats representing 70 brands, this is the biggest indoor boat show of the year in northern New Jersey," said show manager Kevin McLaughlin of MAC Events. "There are going to be some great deals on 2003 leftovers and show visitors will get their first look at some of the 2004 models."

The show also offers a broad variety of marine products and services from electronics to T-tops and from marine engine repair services to insurance and finance companies.

The show also will offer opportunities to meet and talk to the Jersey shore’s top anglers during a series of free fishing seminars sponsored by The Fisherman Magazine.

Dealers at the show will display boats by Boston Whaler, Crownline, Sea Ray, Cobalt and many more.

"We will represent everything in Regal Boats’ sport yacht line from 18 to 29 feet," said Chris Gallagher, sales manager of Garden State Yacht Sales, which has showrooms in Point Pleasant Beach and Somers Point.

Regal, a high-end line of cruisers and sport boats, is known for combining luxury features, like Corean countertops, which carry a lifetime warranty.

True World Marine typically offers an electronics or trailer package as an incentive to buy one of its boats during a show, said sales manager George Haseve. It will exhibit 24- and 28-footers all powered by a single, 315 hp Yamaha diesel inboard-outboard.

The 16th annual Fall New Jersey Boat Show will be at the New Jersey Convention Center Friday, Oct. 3, from 1-9:30 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 4, from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and on Sunday, Oct. 5, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
