Sayreville resident feels he was misled

This is an open letter to Mayor Kennedy O’Brien. I voted for you because you claimed that the construction and congestion would cease. Since that time, development has continued at a rapid pace. Midday traffic here is quite similar to that at 42nd Street and Ninth Avenue in Manhattan. It seems that your "Stop the Building" campaign premise has been unfulfilled.

I have been a registered Republican since I was 18. Due to you (amongst others in your party), I will be switching my allegiance to the Democratic Party, the lesser of the two evils.

Sir, I will never vote for you again. You have consistently misled us about your position on most issues. The building has not even slowed down. The traffic just becomes more and more stifling.

Do the words inadequate infrastructure exist in your vocabulary? Taxes keep rising, although more taxes on the existing homes, in addition to all the new developments, add up to less resources for the borough and a lack of revenue. How is this possible?

I received your letter about no tax hike. I ask you: Who will pay for the new sources of revenue? My money is on us, the residents. Why not build a new school instead of more units and ratables to clog our infrastructure.

Maybe you should do what you were elected to do instead of succumbing to developers.

I am not stupid, and I am not gullible. To quote Ross Perot, you work for us. And, ultimately, you have failed.
