HIGHTSTOWN — The East Windsor-Hightstown League of Women Voters will host a one-hour debate for Borough Council candidates on Thursday at Hightstown High School.
The forum will be held in the high school’s media room, Room 601, and will begin at 7:15 p.m. The school’s video class will tape the debate, which will be shown at a later date on local cable television.
According to the league, each candidate will deliver a two-minute opening statement and a one-minute closing statement.
During the forum, questions written by audience members will be asked of the candidates. Each candidate will have one and a half minutes to respond.
An invitation to attend the forum was mailed this week by the League of Women Voters to council candidates. It is not clear at this time if all of the candidates will attend.
Two Republicans are challenging two incumbent Democratic council members in the Nov. 4 election. GOP candidates Andrew Keller and James Jurgens are running against incumbents Lawrence Quattrone and Dave Schneider.
In the race to serve the remaining year of an unexpired council term, Democrat Walter Sikorski and Republican Anne Blake are running. The seat originally belonged to former councilman Dan Buriak and now is held by Eugene Sarafin.
