Duo running as write-in candidates

JACKSON — Two residents have announced they are running as write-in candidates for seats on the Township Committee.

Independent Republicans Ralph Sicuranza and Lucia Bartolini both said they were upset by what had occurred at the committee’s Oct. 14 meeting. That night, charges and countercharges revolving around campaign tactics were traded back and forth between some of the candidates who are on the ballot.

Two three-year terms will be up for grabs in the Nov. 4 election. Democratic incumbents Michael Kafton and Sean Giblin are seeking re-election. They are being challenged by Republicans William Allmann and Mel Schubert.

Sicuranza and Bartolini both have ties to the Jackson Chamber of Commerce. Bartolini is the 3rd vice president this year and Sicuranza is on the board of directors. Both said they support a proposal to change Jackson’s form of government and both said they will run for office if the change is approved Nov. 4.
