Greg Puliti, Pam Mount and Michael Powers completed a Democratic sweep of the Lawrence Township Council election Tuesday.
Mr. Puliti, who currently serves as mayor, and Ms. Mount were incumbents, while this will be Mr. Powers’ first term on council. The Republican candidates Robert Brackett, Colette Coolbaugh and Victor Murray were all first-time candidates.
The Democrats will maintain its 4-1 advantage on council, as Mr. Powers will take over the seat of fellow Democrat Doris Weisberg, who opted not to seek re-election. Rick Miller will remain the lone Republican on council, while Deputy Mayor Mark Holmes is the fourth Democrat. The newly-won terms are for four years.
Mr. Puliti was the top vote-getter with 3,915, followed by Ms. Mount and Mr. Powers who received 3,870 and 3,635, respectively. Mr. Murray led the Republican candidates with 2,639 votes, while Mr. Brackett received 2,622 and Ms. Coolbaugh received 2,526.
Mr. Puliti, 45, of Bunker Hill Avenue, won his third term on council. It will be the second term for Ms. Mount, 59, of Cold Soil Road, and the first for Mr. Powers, 35, of Pin Oak Drive.
Of the 16,147 registered voters in the township, 6,293 cast ballots leading to a 39 percent voter turnout.
