WOODBRIDGE — A man claiming to have a bomb robbed Commerce Bank on St. Georges Avenue Oct. 28, police said.

A bank employee told police that at around 10 a.m. she observed a man enter the bank dressed in a black sweat shirt, blue jeans and a black baseball cap with the letter "P" on the front.

The suspect allegedly approached the counter with his hands in his pockets, then placed a letter in front of the teller that said, "I have a bomb. Give me all your money."

The teller gave an undisclosed amount of money to the suspect, who then grabbed the money and his note and fled the bank toward Roanoke Street, police said.

The bank robber, described as a black male, was allegedly seen running down the street with a stocky white male, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds, dressed in blue jeans, a red jacket and a red baseball cap.

Officials said they are not sure if there is any connection to the Somerset Valley Bank robbery on Oak Tree Road in Edison that occurred Oct. 9.

"It’s being looked at, but right now there are not any links," Special Agent Stephen Kodak of the FBI in Newark said.

Woodbridge police, in conjunction with the FBI, are investigating.
