Voters thanked for their support of LOSAP

On behalf of the LOSAP Committee, I would like to thank the voters of Howell for supporting the Length of Service Award Program at the polls on Nov. 4. This small benefit will go a long way toward recruiting and retaining Howell’s first aid volunteers.

Volunteer first aid squad members use their own time and fiscal resources to care for the needs of the residents and visitors to Howell. A paid ambulance service charges individuals from $350 to $1,000 for a response to an emergency medical incident.

A contract between a paid ambulance service and the township could cost several hundred thousand dollars.

The members of the Howell, Howell-Farmingdale and Ramtown first aid squads must be commended for providing a free service to the individuals who work, visit and travel through Howell that would otherwise be very costly.

All three squads are in need of more volunteers. I would invite any interested individuals to contact the officers of the squads or the Howell town hall to find out more about becoming a part of these vital organizations. Your support is and will be greatly appreciated.
