Convenient deeds always done for visitors, not locals

I’ve lived in Brick 31 years and can’t get over the last few. It seems over-expansion is rearing its ugly head and the locals have to pay for it.

Try getting around from late May through September in Brick. Try driving your car on Route 88, especially now that there’s a new block across from Lo’s Garden and more trees knocked down across the street from Colonial Funeral Home.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out why we see more roadkill. It doesn’t take a genius to realize a few blocks from the president streets (Polk Drive, Taft Drive, etc.), streets and houses are as lavish as those in Spring Lake. You don’t even have to be smart to realize there’s more potholes in this town due to last winter’s storms and excessive driving. It wouldn’t be as bad if Brick was quicker to do things.

After years, they are finally fixing the exterior of the Kmart Shopping Center. That won’t cover up the fact that the parking lot is still one big mess. That shopping center cannot take another winter like last year, and that leads me to another point.

How long did you wait before your block was shoveled last winter? Some blocks were done quickly and efficiently. Other blocks were ignored for days.

The convenient things are done for visitors in town, but not the locals. Has anyone considered the traffic that will result when the new exit from the Parkway on Cedar Bridge Avenue is finished? Has anyone thought about the fact that it takes an extra half-hour to get to the Ocean County Mall from Brick Boulevard because of the construction?

For a once quiet town, there’s a lot going on here. If this town is going to continue to build and expand, it has to do it for us. I suggest the people who run this town step up to fill the needs of the locals.
