Obituaries Kenneth J. Essig

Mr. Essig, 67, of Middletown died Dec. 10 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Orange, he resided in Newark prior to moving to Middletown in 1955. He was a letter carrier at the U.S. Postal Service, Middletown, for 38 years, retiring in 1992. He also worked as a courier for the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey, Red Bank, for 24 years. He served with the U.S. Army, and was also a former boxer in the military. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. He was predeceased by a brother, Lawrence Essig in 1998. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, K. Scott and Sue Essig of Tinton Falls; his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Michael Zambuto of the Leonardo section of Middletown; his brother, Glenn Essig of Georgia; two sisters, Marlene Wagner of Brick, and Judith Santiago of Pennsylvania; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Edward A. Davis

Mr. Davis, 64, of East Brunswick died Dec. 14 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. A grandson, Matthew Morosoff, died in 1999. Surviving are his wife, Diane Capone Davis; two daughters, Cindy Morosoff of Tinton Falls and Terri Addona of Holliston, Mass.; three brothers, James of Fort Meyers, Fla., the Rev. Joseph Davis, pastor of St. Therese Roman Catholic Church, Succasunna, and Peter Davis of Long Branch; six sisters, Ellen Matzuk, Patricia Davis and Loretta Goger, all of Fort Meyers, Caroline McKenna of Cranford, Mary Davis of Rahway and Trudy Donnelly of Lady Lake, Fla.; and five grandchildren. A Mass was planned for 10 a.m. on Dec. 18 at St. Bartholomew’s Church, East Brunswick. Entombment was to follow in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. James T. Conover

Mr. Conover, 43, of Keyport died Dec. 12 at home. Born in Perth Amboy, he resided in Florida prior to moving to Keyport two years ago. He was a salesman at Home Depot, Hazlet, for five years. He served with the U.S. Navy during peacetime. He was predeceased by his father, James Conover, in 1994. He is survived by his son, Christopher James Conover of South Carolina; his daughter, Nicole Conover of South Carolina; his mother, Eileen Hogan Conover of Keyport; two sisters, Kelly Switzer of Sayreville and Sandra Conover of Virginia; his brother, Scott Conover of Lanoka Harbor; and two nieces and two nephews. Visitation will be Dec. 18 from 7-9 p.m. at Day Funeral Home, Keyport A funeral service will be Dec. 19 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment at New Jersey Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown.B. Mr. Aravecz, 73, of the Lincroft section of Middletown died Dec. 13 at Blythe House, Tinton Falls. Born in Elizabeth, he resided in Middletown 41 years. He was the owner/operator of Monmouth Exxon, Holmdel, for 30 years, retiring in 1985. He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. He was a founding member of the Mater Dei Booster Club, New Monmouth, and an avid fisherman. He was predeceased by his wife, Anita Aravecz in 1992. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Claire and Ed­ward Andia of Middletown; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Cathy Aravecz of Lincroft, and John and Rondi Aravecz of Free­hold; and four grandchildren. A funeral gath­ering will be held Dec. 17 at 8:30 a.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral liturgy will follow at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth. Madeline "Maddi" C. Frank Hulsart

Mrs. Hulsart, 72, of Keyport died Dec. 15 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Keyport, she was a lifelong resident. She was a legal secretary for Alfred E. LaBrecque, Red Bank. Prior to that, she was a borough clerk for Keyport. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. She was a member of the Matawan Junior Woman’s Club. She was predeceased by her brother, George R. Frank, and her sister, Anna Fischler. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Andrew Hulsart of Keyport; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and Harry Sobko, and Bar­bara and Jack Stankiewicz, all of Keyport; and three grandchildren. Visitation will be Dec. 17 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Day Funeral Home, Keyport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Dec. 18 at 9:15 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Ro­man Catholic Church, Keyport. Interment will be at Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan.

Evelyn Pendy

Mrs. Pendy of Middletown died Dec. 15 at Bayside Manor Assisted Living Facility, Keansburg. Born in St. Paul, Minn., she relo­cated to Middletown in 1984, and to Shadow Lake Village Condominium, Loch Arbor Way, Middletown, in 1994. She was a home­maker. She was a communicant at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth sec­tion of Middletown, and also volunteered for several years at its thrift shop. She was also an avid golfer. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael Pendy in 1980; and a sister, Mary La Voie. She is survived by her son, Bruce Pendy of Wyckoff; her daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Ron Wrucke of Middle­town; her sister, Nadine Reilly of St. Paul, Minn.; her daughter-in-law, Joan Pendy of Middletown; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchil­dren. A funeral gathering will be Dec. 17 at 9 a.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middle­town. A funeral liturgy will fol­low at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth.
