Registration for the Merrill Park baseball season will be held at Avenel Middle School cafeteria on Jan. 17 from 10 a.m.-noon. The league is for boys and girls ages 5-15, and hte season runs from April through June. The cut-off date is 7/31. The costs are $60 one sport, and $100 both sports, with discounts for multiple players. There is a$20 family workbond (refundable at season’s end). Please bring a copy of the player’s birth certificate to registration. Payment by check or money order only (no cash). The TNT Fastpitch Softball 14U program is looking for two experienced and dedicated players to complete its 2004 roster. Tryouts will be held Jan. 4 and 11 from 4-6 p.m. at TNT’’s winter practice facility. Team is located in Central New Jersey.

The New Jersey Cheerleading Invitational Competition is seeking squads to compete in the 12th annual statewide event presented by the Girl Scouts of Ocean County on March 6 at Manchester High School. Middle school/junior high squads are scheduled to begin competition at approximately 9:30 a.m., with trophies given out at about noon. High school level divisions, including co-ed high schools, will take the floor for the afternoon, beginning at about 2 p.m. Information and registration information is available to squads now by calling (732) 349-4499. Divisions include middle school/junior high; junior high no stunting; junior varsity; varsity and co-ed. The competition is open to school and recreational cheerleading squads.
