Stony Brook school collects eyeglasses
Rodney Newman (left) of the Hopewell Valley Lions Club accepts a box – filled with 116 pairs of eyeglasses donated by Stony Brook Elementary School students – from fifth-grade teacher Sam Hendrickson during the Dec. 23 school meeting. The eyeglasses were collected during the Halloween season by fifth-grade trick-or-treaters. The Lions regularly collect used eyeglasses and Stony Brook has become a regional drop-off location for eyeglass donations. Valley residents wishing to donate eyeglasses may drop them off at Stony Brook, located in Brandon Farms, anytime the school is open.
