Business Briefs Ladacin appoints new acting executive director

The Ladacin Network, formerly Cerebral Palsy of Monmouth & Ocean Counties Inc., Wanamassa section of Ocean Township, has announced the appointment of Patricia Carlesimo to acting executive director of the agency. She replaces K. David Holmes, who has been granted a one-year leave of absence.

Carlesimo has been employed at the firm for 25 years and began her career as a speech/language pathologist. Her most recent position was associate executive director.

She and her husband reside in Rumson, and are the parents of three children.

Area NAWBO chapters to hold dinner, breakfast

The Monmouth/Ocean Chapter of the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) will hold its monthly dinner meeting Jan. 22 at 5 p.m. at Jumping Brook Country Club, Route 66, Neptune.

The cost is $40 for nonmembers and $35 for members, and reservations are required. Eva Szakal of Y2Marketing will present "Six Powerful Secrets of Marketing You Can Use Immediately," and Vicki Lynne Morgan of Russmor Marketing Group will present "Seven Seconds to Success in Trade Show Marketing." Area resident promoted to assistant v.p. at bank

Shrewsbury State Bank has announced the promotion of Tracey A. Weaver from assistant branch manager to assistant vice president and branch manager. Weaver was based at the bank’s Little Silver office and will now work out of the Ocean office.

An employee of Shrewsbury State Bank for seven years, the Long Branch resident is a graduate of Brookdale Community College, Lincroft section of Middletown, and a member of the Greater Ocean Township Chamber of Commerce.

Market to launch club with book signing Feb. 7

Sickles Market, 1 Harrison Ave., Little Silver, will launch its Gourmet Club with a book signing, cooking demonstrations and wine pairing Feb. 7 from 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. The club will feature discounted food items weekly, information and resources on the items’ origins, and suggested uses and recipes.

Tony DiDio and Amy Zavatto, authors of "Renaissance Guide to Food and Wine Pairing," will sign copies of the book beginning at 11::30 a.m. Cooking demonstrations will be given by Peter O’Connell of Pasta Fresca, Shrewsbury; Rich Deutsch of Salt Creek Grille, Rumson; Larry Akins of Sickles; and Chris Kazmac, cheese buyer at Sickles Market. Wines will be provided by Don Asay of Rumson Buy-Rite.

Cooking demonstrations will be held from noon-12:30 p.m., 1-1:30 p.m., 2-2:30 p.m., and 3-3:30 p.m. Gourmet Club sign-ups will be accepted, and discounted items will also be available all day.
