Johnson School principal honored by Post No. 504

Johnson Elementary School, Jackson, Principal Barry Rosenzweig was awarded a certificate of appreciation from American Legion Post No. 504 to show its appreciation for his constant and continued support of veterans. According to a press release, Rosenzweig holds many programs throughout the school year which bring attention to the sacrifices made for the country by veterans and the services they still provide to the community. The legion meets at 7:30 p.m. on the second Monday of every month at the VFW Hall on Magnolia Drive, Jackson. New and old members are welcome to attend.

New Egypt Boy Scouts hold Court of Honor

Boy Scout Troop 9 of New Egypt held its Court of Honor Dec. 18. The following people were honored:

Mike Hedge was appointed as the troop’s new scribe. John Lawrence, Pierce Kiernan, Jack Levorse, Steve Tomas­zowski and Matt Hekl earned aviation merit badges. Ronald Clifton, Anthony Long and Bob Schalack achieved rank of second class. Lawrence also achieved first class rank, and Tim Gonzales achieved Life Scout rank.
