Student earns Quest for Excellence scholarship

In recognition of the outstanding leadership qualities, 16 year-old Matthew Lipka was honored with the RE/MAX Quest for Excellence Award. A check presentation was held at RE/MAX of Princeton, where Matthew was awarded with a Certificate of Achievement and a check for $500.

Matthew, a junior at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School, has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities as vice president of the Model United Nations/Model Congress club during the 2002-2003 school year. The responsibilities of his position included organizing the school’s participation in conferences, guiding and training new delegates, and monitoring and creating mock conferences. Matthew is donating his scholarship money to the Model United Nations to help offset conference costs.
"Matthew has demonstrated tremendous leadership qualities through his dedication and commitment to the Model United Nations," said Ray Wolkind, broker manager of RE/MAX of Princeton. "RE/MAX is honored to give him the Quest for Excellence Award."
Matthew was selected from more than 680 applicants from across the state. He was one of 32 students who received an award. This scholarship program, introduced in January 2002 by RE/MAX of New Jersey, encourages students to cultivate their talents in extra-curricular activities. While most scholarship programs are associated with senior high school students and future college tuition grants, Quest for Excellence is all-inclusive, recognizing the achievements of New Jersey students in grades one through twelve.
The students who applied for Quest for Excellence Awards wrote essays based on their interests in one of four subjects: Leadership, Sports, Arts and Community Service. The chosen winners are using the scholarship money toward an activity or program that will further enhance their abilities. Some of the programs that will be funded include art lessons, music lessons, sports camp and college tuition.
