Roosevelt offers winter recreation programs

The Roosevelt Community Education and Recreation Coalition is sponsoring the following programs this winter:

In "Playing Around With Theatre," a workshop co-sponsored by Youth Stages of Princeton, students will participate in theater games, movement and arts activities as they learn about improvisation and character development for the theater. Classes will be held at the Roosevelt School for students in kindergarten through sixth grade, Jan. 28, Feb. 4, 11, 18, 25, and March 3, from 2:45-3:45 p.m. The cost is $50.

"Adult Hatha Yoga" will be conducted by Gina DiArchangel, a certified yoga instructor and licensed social worker, on Tuesday nights from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Roosevelt Borough Hall, through Feb. 24. The cost is $50 for the program (which began Jan. 6) or $10 walk-in fee per session. While yoga mats will be provided, participants are welcome to bring their own.

Open basketball will be offered at the Roosevelt School from 7-9 p.m. Wednesdays beginning Feb. 4. The program is open to students in grades 7-12; there is no cost.

"Mad Science" is a hands-on science program that enables students to have fun as they learn about various aspects of science. Classes will be held at the Roosevelt School art room for ages kindergarten through third grade, Feb. 19, March 4, 11, 18, 25, April 1, 15 and 22, from 2:45-3:45 p.m.; the cost is $50.
