Dennis Yurcisin, a Kirby distributorship operator based in Eatontown, recently received a bronze medal from The Kirby Company as part of its "Challenge of Champions Campaign." The effort was a year-long promotion in which distributors can win prizes and trips for reaching business goals.

New nurse joins Visiting Physician Services

Visiting Physician Services, Eatontown, has announced that Piscataway resident Phyllis Pass has joined the firm as an advanced practice nurse. She will treat elderly and homebound patients in Middlesex, Somerset and Monmouth counties.

Prior to joining Visiting Physician, Pass was an adult nurse practitioner in occupational health at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She has more than 23 years of nursing experience and is a member of the American Nurses Association, New Jersey State Nurses Association and the American Academy of Advance Practice Nurses.

Visiting Physician Services has a staff of 15 who makes house calls in Monmouth, Middlesex, Ocean, Union, Essex, Hudson and Somerset counties.

Ocean Township wins award for recycling

The Monmouth County Solid Waste Advisory Council recently presented the Township of Ocean with an award for excellence in recycling as demonstrated by the township’s education and enforcement programs for its residents and commercial establishments.

Mayor William F. Larkin praised residents and commercial businesses and said, "Without the participation of our residents and businesses, the program would surely fail. Together we have created a recycling program that is not only compliant with, but exceeds state and county requirements while being beneficial to the environment."

He also commended the recycling coordinator, Mary Ann Fieux, calling her the "cornerstone of the program."

The award ceremony was held at the Holiday Inn, Tinton Falls.
