James E. Conover Jr.

   James E. Conover Jr., 79, of Cranbury, died Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Cranbury Care Center in Monroe.
   Born in New Brunswick, he lived in the Cranbury area for his entire life. Mr. Conover was an Army Veteran of World War II. He worked for the Hightstown Rug Company and Tri-County Lumber. He retired as a Corrections Officer for the Middlesex County Youth Detention Center in New Brunswick after 24 years of service. He was a member of the Jamesburg American Legion Post No. 127.
   His children, Edwin Conover and Barbara Mitchell, parents, James E. and Bessie Conover, Sr., and father-in-law of the late Lucille Washington, are deceased. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty V. Conover; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard J. and Florence Conover of Trenton and Ralph and Debbie Conover of Browns Mills; two sisters, Carolyn Thomas of Cranbury and Betty Ann Drew of Dover, Del.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
   A funeral service was held Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 21 Rev. Wm. L. Powell Drive, Hightstown, N.J. The Reverend Bernard Fowler officiated. Internment followed in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hightstown. Arrangements were under the direction of A.S. Cole Funeral Home, 22 North Main Street Cranbury, N.J.
