Let residents keep their ‘affordable houses’

I can’t believe the mayor of Long Branch, with a straight face, can say he is destroying the 38 homes in Beach Front North to make "affordable housing available," and, further addressing these beleaguered homeowners, "yes, this is an incredible sacrifice on your part, but it is for the good of the community."

Really? What part of the community? I think those 38 homes are the epitome of affordable housing.

I have often driven through that neighborhood and thought to myself maybe someday I really could afford a little house by the beach. If I owned one of those homes today and had to listen to such drivel attempting to justify eminent domain, I would probably have to be locked up, bound and gagged to keep from committing mayhem. I think this is an illegal use of eminent domain and will only benefit the wealthy few who will be able to afford to live on the beachfront in Long Branch.

Long Branch should just go ahead with what they have already done and leave those poor homeowners alone in their affordable houses.
