Outsourcing will cost Americans jobs in the near future if this new trend is not reversed by U.S. politicians
America, wake up! If the report I read is correct, 3.3 million white-collar jobs and $136 million in wages will be lost by 2015 to outsourcing of American jobs overseas. Do you know there are consulting firms that advise United States companies how to outsource?
The jobs being sent overseas are engineering, technology, accounting, financial analysis and architectural to name a few. The companies and politicians say we Americans will benefit from this outsourcing due to cheaper prices based on hiring employees at lower salaries. If these companies continue to eliminate American jobs, where do they think the money will come from to buy their cheaper products? Not from 3.3 million Americans.
What is the future of the young people in America? There will be fewer engineering, technology, accounting jobs here in the United State. We will lose our edge as we outsource to foreign countries. There will be no need for colleges to teach these courses since there will be so few jobs left here and no reason for students to major in them.
So where will our "competitive edge" in engineering and in technology come from? Some foreign country? I think not. How will we continue to be a world power if we don’t have the engineers, the technology here in the United States?
The only reason United States companies are outsourcing is so the "fat cats can get fatter." Do you think the employees will benefit from the increased profits by outsourcing? I think not. These companies have forgotten that it was the American employee that made their company successful, it was the American employees’ talents and hard work that brought them to the top. This is the thanks for years of dedication and hard work.
Outsourcing. One executive had the audacity to say that companies that outsource are creating "a new middle class" in these countries. Great; while they destroy the middle class in America. When possible, try not to buy from companies that have outsourced jobs overseas. I know that will be hard to do since there are so many companies that we use and need their services, like Microsoft, IBM, AT&T, General Electric, etc. In the future, cut back as much as possible.
Write to the presidents and the CEOs of these companies and tell them how sickened you are by their unethical "selling of America" for greed.
Another problem is the security issue as call centers overseas have all our information like Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, etc. Have these companies and the politicians thought about terrorists taking this info and using it against America? Are we protected in these foreign countries against that or will the politicians send our American soldiers to protect us there too?
We must stand up against this outsourcing. We are at great risk of losing everything. We, as a nation, will become vulnerable as we lose our "competitive edge," as we lose our jobs, as we lose our independence from foreign countries and as we lose our identities. It needs to be stopped. It is up to our government to protect our jobs and pass laws to stop this action. So far not enough has been done.
It is up to us to write to the politicians and tell them of our concerns about outsourcing. What will be the future of America with so many jobs overseas? It looks pretty bleak. Tell them that you will not support any politician that favors outsourcing. This is a very critical situation and one that the politicians have to address and do something about now, not 11 years from now when the 3.3 million jobs are lost.
