Family thanks community for kindness in difficult time

Our family recently suffered the loss of our son, brother, cousin, uncle, father and friend, Douglas Emmons.

During this difficult period our lives were touched by the love and kindness of many people. We would like to mention a few: Patrolmen John Fay, John Digiovanni, Kenneth Kleinman and Thomas Ferrugia of the Eatontown Police Department, for their caring and compassion; Barbara of the Hoffman Funeral Home for her professionalism and personal help, which meant so much; the Star of the Sea Church for the beautiful service; and the Branchport Hose Company for their generosity.

We also want to thank all those family and friends whose love has been so overwhelming at this trying time. We continue to take great comfort from the consideration so many of our neighbors, friends and community members have shown us.

We will never forget their kindness. We have been reminded of how many wonderful friends we have.
