Margaret Calvano

Obituaries Margaret Calvano

Mrs. Calvano, 75, of Old Bridge died March 24 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to her retirement in 1994, she was employed by Greater Media Inc., Freehold, formerly of East Brunswick. Her husband, Anthony, died in 1966. Surviving are four daughters, Janice Compitello of Millstone and Debbie Kepics, Michele Metz and Maria Szaraz, all of Old Bridge; a sister, Marion Trebotica of Old Bridge; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Interment was in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Middlesex Unit, 846 Main St., Fords, NJ 08863.

Alexej "Alex" Antonov

Mr. Antonov, 86, of South River died March 30 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to his retirement 21 years ago, he was em­ployed by Johnson and Johnson Personal Care Products Division, Milltown, where he worked as a machine operator for 30 years. After that, he worked as a security guard for Pinnacle Materials Inc., East Brunswick. His wife, Nancy Petrowski Antonov, died in 1999. Surviving are two daughters, Alexis Stashkevetch and Faith Kaczmarek, both of South River; a son, Macar Antonov of Ocean Grove; and four grandchildren. Services were held at Maliszewski Memorial Home, Sayreville. Interment was in Saints Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Cemetery, South River.

John "Yash" Lagoda

Mr. Lagoda, 77, of Pompano Beach, Fla., formerly of Sayreville and South Amboy, died March 25 at home. Prior to his retire­ment six years ago, he was the owner of Lagoda’s Tavern, South Amboy. Before that, he owned other taverns in South Amboy, the Melrose section of Sayreville and South River. Surviving are his wife, Helen Kuzdzal Lagoda; two daughters, Nancy Szkodny of Sayreville and Sandra Galletta of Red Oak, Texas; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. A Mass was of­fered at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Sayreville. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Margaret "Marge" M. Mahoney

Mrs. Mahoney, 71, of East Brunswick, formerly of the Iselin section of Woodbridge, died March 28 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. She was predeceased by her husband, Bryan Joseph Mahoney, and by a son, Bryan Patrick Mahoney. Surviving are three daughters, Susan Kaye of Orlando, Fla., Maggie Mahoney of Boerne, Texas, and Catherine Mahoney of Marietta, Ga.; a son, Glenn Patrick Mahoney of Allentown; and two grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Bartholomew’s Church, East Brunswick. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Vera Schuck Seiner

Mrs. Seiner, 82, of East Brunswick, formerly of Monroe, died March 23 in Care One Nursing Home, East Brunswick. Prior to her retirement, she was a microbiologist in medical research at Bristol-Myers Squibb Institute, New Brunswick, where she worked for 20 years. Surviving is a sister, Jirina Cerna of Checerady, Czechoslovakia. Services were private. Arrangements were under the direction of Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick.

Lawrence Joseph Tremmel

Mr. Tremmel, 72, of East Brunswick died March 24 in JFK Medical Center, Edison. His wife, Frances Tremmel, died in 1997. Surviving are two sons, Kevin Tremmel of North Plainfield and Larry Tremmel of East Brunswick; a daughter, Denise Tremmel Cobos of Smyrna, Ga.; a brother, Robert Tremmel of Helmetta; and three grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood. Entombment was in Holy Cross Mausoleum, South Brunswick.

Dr. David Lloyd Kabus

Dr. Kabus, 40, of Teaneck, formerly of East Brunswick, died March 29 at home. He was a partner and associate director at Ridgewood Pathology Group. Surviving are his parents, Irwin Kabus of East Brunswick and Ruth Kabus of Rock Hill, N.Y.; two brothers, Alan of Atlanta and Robert of Fairfax, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held at Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick. Florence Mezzacapa Luecke

Mrs. Luecke, 79, of Sayreville died March 29 in Hunterdon Medical Center, Flemington. Her husband, Virgil Luecke, died in 1995; a son, David C. Luecke, died in 1992; and a grandson, Gerald Luecke, died in 1997. Surviving are a son, Virgil "Richard" Luecke of Spotswood; two daugh­ters, Amelia "Amy" Cuneo of Frenchtown and Cynthia "Cindy" Pope of the Stewartsville section of Greenwich Township; two brothers, Dominic "Danny" Mezzacapa of Florida and Samuel "Jack" Mezzacapa of Louisiana; seven grandchil­dren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A blessing was held at Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. Interment was in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the March of Dimes or to the Sayreville Emergency Squad.

Howard Rihacek

Mr. Rihacek, 74, of East Brunswick died March 23 in Cranbury Center, Monroe. His wife, Chauncey Rihacek, died in 2001. Surviving are a brother, Charles Rihacek of Georgia, and several nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Interment was in Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery, Queens, N.Y.

Barbara Shelton Frantz

Mrs. Frantz, 70, of East Brunswick died March 30 at home. Surviving are her hus­band, Errol Frantz; two sons, Errol of Old Bridge and Eric of Sayreville; two daugh­ters, Karen of East Brunswick and Dawn of Texas; a brother, David Shelton; and five grandchildren. Services were held at Assembly of God Church, East Brunswick. Interment was in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.

Alex J. Puglisi

Mr. Puglisi, 80, of East Brunswick, formerly of South River and Tamarac, Fla., died March 31 in Summerhill Nursing Home, Old Bridge. His wife, Elena Puglisi, died in 1976. Surviving are a sister, Mary Elmore of South River; two sons, James of East Brunswick and William of the Annandale section of Clinton; and four grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Corpus Christi Church, South River. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Mr. Lee, 64, of Edison died April 1 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Lizhang; a son, William Eric Lee of the Basking Ridge section of Bernards; a brother, Tieh-Huan Lawrence Lee of China; two sisters, Shih-Ying L. Huang and Wen-Ying Lee, both of East Brunswick; and one granddaughter. Arrangements were under the direction of Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.
