Bill Hills of Hopewell Township and Steve Wood of Hopewell Borough were re-elected president and vice president of the regional school board Monday night.
Also during Monday night’s brief reorganization meeting, Mr. Wood joined Kim Newport and Michael Bruno, both of Hopewell Township, in taking oaths of office for three-year terms on the board.
The three were re-elected in the April 20 election in which voters also approved the district’s 2004-2005 budget.
Close to 28 percent of the district’s registered voters went to the polls.
"That’s almost double the state average of 15.8 percent, which is pretty impressive," school district Business Administrator and Board Secretary John Nemeth said Monday night.
After the board voted unanimously in favor of keeping him in the president’s chair, Mr. Hills said: "This board is a great team. I think we’ve worked well together. I’m looking forward to meeting the challenges of the coming year."
Added Mr. Wood after being unanimously re-elected vice president by his colleagues on the board: "I’m delighted with the support we got from the community in election and hope we can keep the great momentum we’ve had during the past year."
Ms. Newport, who now has been a member of the board for five years, said: "I hope I can put my experience on the board to good use. I’m feeling very positive about the next three years."
"At the end of the day, it’s all about the children," Mr. Bruno said. "I think we have a great board that works well together."
