Nicolena Caroline "Lee" Scarano

Mrs. Scarano, 95, of Newark died April 17 at Alameda Care Center, Perth Amboy. Born in Newark, she resided in Long Branch prior to returning to Newark. She was employed in the accounting department at Montclair State Teachers College for 12 years, retiring in 1985 to care for her sick brother. Prior to that, she was employed in the accounting department at Tung-Sol Electric, Newark, for more than 40 years, retiring at age 65. She was a parishioner at Immaculate Conception Church, Newark. She was predeceased by three brothers, Ben, Carl, and Rocco; two sisters, Anna and Flora; and a nephew, Thomas Zegarelli. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Dorothea’s Roman Catholic Church, Eatontown. Entombment was at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge. Arrangements were by Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Michael’s Church, 800 Ocean Ave, Long Branch 07740.

Barbara P. Schwarz

Mrs. Schwarz, 51, of Long Branch died April 27 at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital, New York City. Born in Newark, she resided in Monmouth Beach prior to moving to Long Branch three years ago. She was a retired manager at Prown’s Home Improvement Store, Red Bank, where she was employed 25 years. She was a parishioner at The Roman Catholic Church of the Precious Blood, Monmouth Beach, where she also taught CCD classes for 10 years. She enjoyed time with her family and going to the beach. She was predeceased by her father, Frank Ferrugia. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, George Schwarz; two sons, Justin M. Schwarz and Shane R. Schwarz, both Long Branch; her mother, Connie Cortese Ferrugia; a sister, Diane Ferrugia of Atlantic Highlands; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Church of the Precious Blood. Arrangements were by Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch.

M. Arlyne Ippolito McQuaid

Mrs. McQuaid, 88, of Lansdale, Pa., and formerly Long Branch, died April 29 at Beverly HealthCare at Lansdale. Born in Allentown, Pa., she resided in Long Branch prior to moving to Lansdale in 1967. Mrs. McQuaid was a computer operator at Free Lance, Lansdale, retiring in the early 1980s. Prior to that, she was employed at Wheelock’s Co., Long Branch. She was of the Methodist faith. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Joseph J. "Bud" McQuaid; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael V. and Diane Ippolito Sr. of Ocean Township, and Robert W. and Kathryn Ippolito of the Oakhurst section of Ocean Township; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Interment was at Schwenkfelder Cemetery, Lansdale, Pa. Arrangements were by Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.

Ruth Mary Ryan

Miss Ryan, 62, of Eatontown died April 30. She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. She was employed as a secretary at various local schools, retiring in 1984. She enjoyed the opera and the arts. She was predeceased by her father, Francis J. Ryan, in 1983; and a brother, John Ryan, in 1987. She is survived by her mother, Ruth Mary Ryan of Eatontown; five brothers and two sisters-in-law, James Ryan, Paul Ryan, and Vincent and Judith Ryan, all of Brooklyn, N.Y., Frank and Linda Ryan of Houston, and Joseph Ryan of Eatontown; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Ann and John Connolly, and Mary Ellen Werth, all of Staten Island, N.Y.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A memorial Mass was offered at St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church, Lincroft section of Middletown. The Braun Funeral Home, Eatontown, was in charge of arrangements. Huong Thi Nguyen

Mrs. Nguyen, 79, of Eatontown died May 2 at Gateway Care Center, Eatontown. Born in Vietnam, she resided there prior to moving to Eatontown 11 years ago. She was predeceased by her husband, Dang Nguyen in 2001; and a sister, Phuong Nguyen in 2002. She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Hieu Nguyen and Ca Tran of Eatontown, Truc and Thuy Nguyen of Houston, Ngon and Thu Nguyen of South Plainfield, and Nghia and Dao Nguyen of Danbury, Conn.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Dieu and Michael Lister of Eatontown, Lieu Hansen and Don Foggia of Middletown, and Nga Nguyen and Minh Vo of Neptune; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.

Ronald H. DeMaria

Mr. DeMaria, 64, of West Long Branch, died April 22, at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York City. Born in Newark, he had resided in West Long Branch since 1979. He was a partner at the law firm of Genova, Burns, and Vernola, Livingston, and specialized in labor and employment law for more than 35 years. He was a communicant of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. His professional achievements include serving as editor-in-chief of the Seton Hall Law Journal, ex-president of the school’s alumni association, and adjunct professor at Rutgers Law School. He was also recognized by New Jersey Monthly magazine as one of the outstanding labor and employment lawyers in New Jersey. Mr. DeMaria was predeceased by his father, Louis DeMaria. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Colannino DeMaria; a son, Ronald Anthony DeMaria of Tinton Falls; a daughter, Alyssa DeMaria of Davenport, Fla.; his mother, Florence Zottoli DeMaria of Brick; and a brother, Louis DeMaria of Metuchen. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Holy Trinity Church. Entombment was at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport. The Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch, was in charge of arrangements. Wendy H. Wolf

Mrs. Wolf, 53, of Oceanport died April 28. Born in Perth Amboy, she resided in Long Branch and Eatontown prior to moving to Oceanport 10 years ago. She was a licensed hairdresser. She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Elks Lodge No. 2402. Mrs. Wolf was predeceased by her parents, John and Helen Ruth West Berbrick; and a sister, Deborah Smith. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Robert P. Wolf; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Robert P. Wolf Jr. of Deal, and Joseph C. and Tracy Wolf of Eatontown; a daughter and son-in-law, Jamie M. and Alex Raposo of Long Branch; two brothers, Joshua Berbrick of West Long Branch and Timothy Berbrick of Shrewsbury; two sisters, Pamela Falvo of Shrewsbury and Sharon Handy of Long Branch; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marie and Fred Wolf; and three grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Jerome’s Roman Catholic Church, West Long Branch. Interment was at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport.
