The Highland Park Sting took the shine out of the Metuchen Stars U11 traveling soccer team on Sunday, shutting out the undefeated team, 2-0. In what was the upset of the season, the 0-3 Sting zapped the 5-0 Stars, handing them their first loss. Highland Park scored their first goal off a perfectly played corner kick 25 minutes into the game, with their second coming mid-way into the second half. Defensively Metuchen played hard and tough, but they were unable to get their offensive game together, flubbing the many opportunities they had to put the ball in the net. Despite the loss, with three games left to be played, the Stars remain at the top of their flight.
