Metuchen will hold Memorial Day program

Metuchen will hold a Memorial Day parade May 31 at 10 a.m., followed by a program at Memorial Park, at approximately 10:45 a.m.

The program will begin with the introductions of the Grand Marshals by Suzanne Colitre Nann:

•World War II; Robert A. Nann Sr. and Nancy Colegrove

•Korean War; Col. Richard Plechner, U.S. Army Reserve

•Vietnam; William McDuffie

•Desert Storm; Col. James Collery, U.S. Marine Corps Reserve

•Enduring Freedom; Sgt. Stewart D. Mundy, U.S. Marine Corps.

Musical selections from the armed services and taps will be played by the Metuchen High School band.

Girl Scouts from the North Edison/Metuchen Service Unit of the Delaware Raritan Council will place carnations at each of the 41 honorees granite marker in Memorial Park:

There will be a flag folding ceremony by the U.S. Armed Forces, and the flag will be presented to Mayor Edmund O’Brien by CWO4 D’Andrea, U.S. Marine Corps Reserve on behalf of the president of the United States.

Participants are asked to bring lawn chairs to the event.

Memorial Day 2004 is dedicated to the honor and support of our service personnel, past and present, especially those in harm’s way.
