Ubirajara P. Goncalves was inducted into the U.S.A. Martial Arts Hall of Fame at a ceremony held April 24 at the Ramada Plaza Hotel in New York. Goncalves is chief instructor at 8th Dan Pineland Karate School, Jackson. He was presented with the award of Master Okinawan Stylist of the Year.

Ted Nappi of Jackson has been promoted to shareholder of WthumSmith+Brown, Certified Public Accountants and Consultants. Nappi is based in the firm’s Red Bank office.

Nappi joined the company in 1994 as a senior accountant at the firm. Nappi received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Monmouth University, West Long Branch.

Weichert, Realtors has launched a new 800 telephone number for Spanish-speaking callers. Spanish-speaking agents will answer Weichert’s new number, (800) 698-8211, to assist callers who are more comfortable using Spanish. Callers will be able to discuss mortgages, pre-qualification and other financial issues, financial counseling, insurance, title and connection services.

The Lakewood Chamber of Commerce offered three scholarships to Christine Lawrence, Linette Johnson and Jacqueline Russo of Lakewood High School. The recipients were chosen from among many worthy candidates who were members of the Pupil Assisted Learning Services Program and the Future Business Leaders Program at the high school. The scholarships were presented at an awards presentation ceremony at Lakewood High School on June 10. The chamber’s annual golf outing supports the scholarship and the mentoring program at Lakewood High School.
