Air Force Airman 1st Class Ken-neth W. Hamburg has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises and special training in human relations. In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Hamburg is the son of William Hamburg of Jackson, and the grandson of Julius Hamburg of Foley, Ala. He graduated from Jackson Memor-ial High School in 2000, and received an associate degree from Ocean County College, Toms River, in 2002.

Civilian Mark J. Silber, son of Anne E. and Arthur D. Silber of Lakewood, recently participated in the United States Naval Academy’s week-long summer seminar program in Annapolis, Md. During the program, Silber was introduced to academy life through a regimen of academics, physical training, intramural sports, sailing and seamanship, as well as leadership training and social activities. The summer seminar program was designed by the USNA’s office of admissions to give students a taste of the challenges and benefits of a USNA education. Silber is currently attending Lakewood High School.

Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Donald C. Molner deployed to Chateau dun, France, and participated in ceremonies commemorating the 60th anniversary of the D-Day invasion in northern France. Molner is an aircraft armament/weapons superintendent assigned to the 81st Fighter Squadron at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany. He has served in the military for 22 years. Molner is the son of Arthur J. and Anna Marie Molner of Lakewood.
