Resource center provides
information on cancer
The Resource and Learning Center (RLC) at The Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ) is open for business and ready to provide patients, their families and the community with information about cancer.
Staffed by a medical librarian, the Resource and Learning Center is a reference area where patients and their families can research their cancer diagnosis and learn more about treatment procedures, clinical trials, nutrition, support groups, palliative care and symptom management. The RLC is located on the second floor in room 2500 at The Cancer Institute of New Jersey in New Brunswick and is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Patients, families and the community can also access the RLC’s online catalog at the Web site, www.cinj.org. Through the site, users can view all of the materials that are available, including health education books, videos, CD-ROMs, consumer health magazines and newsletters, children’s books and other resources. While only CINJ patients and their families can check materials out of the RLC, anyone is welcome to visit the center, use cataloged materials and consult with the medical librarian. Patrons can also contact the RLC by phone at (732) 235-9639 or via e-mail at [email protected].
A second component to the Resource & Learning Center, a learning room, is currently under construction and is scheduled to open in late fall. The learning room was designed to provide a meeting place for CINJ classes, special programs and support groups.
The RLC is supported by tax-deductible donations from individuals, corporations and foundations. Donations are used to support the RLC operations, to purchase materials, and to maintain up-to-date equipment and library collections. The Cancer Institute of New Jersey is part of UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
