Over the years I have written numerous letters to local newspapers, local officials and the Clean Communities program about my concerns regarding the litter and garbage on the streets and roadsides of Sayreville.
My family and I tried to do our part by volunteering our time and services in the "adopt-a-spot" program. I finally gave up after realizing that no one in local government took my concerns seriously enough to try to improve town sanitation beyond the routine scheduled garbage pickup.
I would like to thank Councilman Stanley Drwal for finally thinking outside the box of seeing taxes and housing developments as the only concerns of Sayreville residents.
Thanks to Councilman Drwal and his Conservation Corps, there has been a very noticeable improvement in town sanitation. He has also been a positive force in helping the youth who participate in the program. I can only hope that he can extend his efforts into zoning and ordinance issues that are in great need of attention in Sayreville.
It seems that newly elected Councilman Drwal is the only politician willing to put forth the extra effort to make Sayreville a better place to live and to raise our children. Our other elected government officials should take notice.
