Aug. 14, 1 p.m.: The resignation

A brave announcement, a corrupt administration.

By: Hank Kalet
Gov. James McGreevey has announced his resignation, coming out of the closet and throwing New Jersey politics into a frenzy.
It was a brave admission and an odd instance of damage control designed to throw attention off his actual record.
He has been a rather terrible governor — his tenure has offered a mix of timidity and political sleaze that should have chased him from the Statehouse without the impending harassment lawsuit.
I’ll offer a full column on it Thursday.
