Phoenix Productions will hold auditions for the adventure musical "The Scarlet Pimpernel," Aug. 23-24 from 7-10 p.m., and Aug. 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Phoenix Studio Theatre, 11 Monmouth St., Red Bank. All parts are open. Those auditioning should prepare a song that best suits their singing and acting ability. The academy will provide an opportunity for performers to have their talents analyzed, and help them improve their weaker skills and strengthen their acting, singing and dancing talents. NENAproductions Theater Project will hold open auditions for Stephen Sondheim’s "Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" at the Jersey Shore Arts Center, Ocean Grove, Aug. 26 from 7-9 p.m. ad Aug. 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Those auditioning should prepare 16 bars of an up-tempo song and a ballad, preferably from Sondheim. An accompanist will be provided. Production dates are Oct. 15, 16, 22 and 23 at 8 p.m. and Oct. 24 at 3 p.m. In addition, the following positions are open for this production: lighting designer, costume designer, coordinator, costume construction, properties, house manager and run crew. The New Jersey Chamber Singers Children’s Chorus will hold auditions for its fall semester on Sept. 9-10 from 2-4:30 p.m. in the music room at Howell Middle School North, or by appointment. The chorus is open to girls and boys with unchanged voices in grades four through eight. Weekly rehearsals will be held on Thursdays from 6-8 p.m. at Howell Middle School North beginning Sept. 23 and ending with two or three concerts in early December.
