Brookdale’s 25th annual Education Open Sept. 23

The Brookdale Community College Foundation has announced its 25th annual Education Open Golf Tournament, the second-largest scholarship and education program fund-raiser for students, will be held Thursday, Sept. 23, at the Hollywood Golf Club, Deal.

This year’s event will feature a special pre-event $20-per-ticket raffle limited to 400 chances. The prize is a golfer’s dream — an all-inclusive morning foursome round of golf at this year’s Education Open. The additional funds raised will be added to the over $2 million in scholarships, grants and special programs the foundation has funded since its inception in 1973.

Lance Hubney, Lincroft, a senior vice president and financial consultant with Morgan Stanley, Red Bank, is, for his eighth consecutive year, chairing the annual event.

"The Brookdale Education Open is a first-class golf outing at a premier golf course that ranks number 70 in the nation, with proceeds funding scholarships and programs benefiting Brookdale students," he stated.

Sponsorship opportunities are available at a variety of levels. Package sponsorships, including VIP golf foursomes, range from $2,750 to $10,000 with a variety of additional sponsorships between $350 and $1,500. Tee and green sponsors are $250.

The raffle prize drawing will be held at 4 p.m. Sept. 15 at the foundation offices on the college’s Lincroft campus. The winner does not have to be present to claim the prize.

Also included in the foursome prize is continental breakfast, Hollywood’s renowned buffet luncheon, the patio reception, evening awards dinner celebration, open bar, golf carts, door prizes, individual and team golf prizes, special prizes for holes-in-one, closest to the pin, longest drive, blind skins, pot-o-gold and 50/50 cash raffle. An extensive silent auction featuring a variety of golf packages will be presented.

All morning golfers, including the winning foursome, will be eligible to compete for the Corporate Cup. The 7:30 a.m. challenge competition is limited to 20 foursomes. Among the past Corporate Cup winners are Prudential and Ricoh Systems.

The general competition will begin at 12:30 p.m. and is limited to 30 foursomes. All players, morning and afternoon, will compete for a variety of individual and team golf prizes. Scoring will be based on the Callaway system.
