Kumon Math and Reading Centers announced that a center will be opening in the Millstone-Jackson area in September.

Kumon is an after-school education enrichment program. The center will be owned and operated by Pratima Athawale, an area resident for more than nine years.

By using small, incremental steps and a comfortable starting point, Kumon helps students master mathematics from basic calculations, through algebra, up to mastering calculus and college-level mathematics. Kumon also offers a reading program designed to give students reading comprehension skills.

Pratima Athawale earned a master’s degree from New York Institute of Technology and a bachelor’s degree from Queen’s College, City University of New York. Prior to opening the Kumon Center, she worked as a system’s engineer for AT&T.

The Millstone-Jackson Kumon Math and Reading Center is located at 504 Monmouth Road, Clarksburg.
